At Dodds and Shute, we care deeply about understanding our supply chain – how furniture products are made, where, out of what materials and by whom. In 2018, we launched our supplier sustainability audit. We have now gathered data on over 200 FF&E manufacturers’ practices. Suppliers who score above 70% are considered on our sustainability ranking list.

Here are some of the coffee tables from our sustainable suppliers that we’ve been using on our projects lately.

CH008 Coffee Table, by Carl Hansen and Søn

Carl Hansen & Søn is a third-generation, family-run Danish design company with over a century of heritage. The company sources wood exclusively from responsibly managed forests and maximises resource use by repurposing nearly all residual material — fuelling a district heating plant that warms over 400 homes in Gelsted, Denmark. They also invest in the future of craftsmanship through an apprenticeship programme, training young artisans to preserve traditional skills and embrace sustainable practices.

Designed in 1954, the CH008 Coffee Table is a simple yet elegant coffee table that combines timeless style with practical functionality, even on uneven floors.

IO Coffee Table, by L.Ercolani

Rising to prominence in post-war Britain, Ercol prioritises responsible timber sourcing, supply chain carbon reduction, and minimal packaging waste. The company uses high-quality hardwoods such as ash, oak, and walnut, and holds Grown in Britain (GiB) certification, sourcing timber locally to shorten supply chains and support domestic forestry. Their award-winning factory integrates eco-friendly features, including natural lighting, soundproofing, motion-sensor lighting, and a biomass boiler powered by wood waste. Across its materials and manufacturing processes, Ercol places a strong focus on sustainability, waste reduction, and ethical sourcing. Launched in 2020, the IO Coffee Table features a solid construction with soft, naturalistic design elements and a minimal profile that complements a wide range of contemporary interiors. Sustainably sourced timber. Made in the U.K. We recently used the IO Coffee Table at the British Land Norton Folgate project.

Roopa Coffee Table, by Arper

Arper, founded in 1989 in Monastier di Treviso, Italy, is still family owned and independently run to this day. They focus on reducing environmental impact through circular economy practices, responsible sourcing, and eco-friendly materials, such as recyclable components. They have earned several certifications, including ISO 14001, sustainable wood, EPD process certification, and GECA (Good Environment Choice Australia).
